Cruise Extension
There’s nothing like the feeling of relaxing on deck and waking up in a new destination! Cruises are a fantastic, stress-free way to travel — and with our Cruise Extension, you’ll have extra peace of mind at sea.
Our Cruise Extension includes protection for things like missed ports, cabin confinement, and unused excursions. It’s designed especially for cruise lovers, including those travelling with medical conditions.
Sail away knowing you’re well covered. Full details, including cover limits and exclusions, are available in your policy documents.
Why Choose a Cruise Extension?
Important: If your holiday meets the cruise definition for your policy, you will need to add the optional Cruise Extension to your Single or Annual Multi Trip policy. The definition of a cruise varies so check the cruise extension wording for the definition to ensure it meets your requirement.
When is a Cruise Extension Required?
- Insurancewith or Alpha Policy: Sea or river voyage lasting more than 3 days.
- Flexicover, World First, Suretravel or Holidaysafe Policy: Sea voyage lasting more than 3 days.
A passenger ship is defined as a vessel carrying more than 12 passengers. Private yacht hire would not normally require a Cruise Extension.
This optional extra provides additional cover tailored to common cruise-related risks. Here’s what’s included:
- Missed Departure: Up to £1,000 if you miss your sailing.
- Cabin Confinement: Up to £200 per 24 hours, max £1,000 if you’re confined to your cabin (e.g. due to illness)
- Delayed Cruise Attire: Up to £500 if your formal clothing is delayed.
- Lost/Stolen Cruise Attire: Up to £1,000.
- Missed Ports Due To Itinerary Change: Up to £300 per missed port, max £1,500.
- Policy Duration: When you add the Cruise extension to your travel insurance policy, cover applies for the full duration of your Single Trip policy or for cruise trips with a maximum individual trip duration of up to 31 days or 45 days within your Annual Multi-Trip policy period (total across all trips), depending on your age, destination, the policy offered and underwriting criteria, subject to the policy terms and conditions.
Cover is subject to policy terms, conditions, and exclusions — such as medical certification for cabin confinement, or evidence for any missed departure or loss claims.
Full terms, conditions and exclusions apply. Please review your policy documents carefully to ensure the cover meets your needs and circumstances. The policy wording is available to you at quote and purchase stage.
