This document details the main changes to the updated policy wording. It does not contain a record of every amendment or those made to individual client policies. Please ensure that you read in full any documentation provided in conjunction with the updated policy wording to determine the full terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the policy cover.
IPID Changes

Policy Wording Changes
Under the upgrades and policy extensions section a change has been made:
- Covid-19 Extension has been removed
Under the claims evidence section a requirement for covid tests has been removed:
- Evidence that your lateral flow test is positive if claiming for Covid-19.
Under the trip disruption exclusions, a change has been made to remove covid exclusion:
- Any claim caused by an epidemic or pandemic.
Under the missed departure section there has been an addition of important information text:
- Planning your travel. You must allow enough time to travel to your departure point and check in for your outward journey. This should be at least the minimum time recommended by your travel provider.
Under the cutting short your trip section there has been a change made to exclusions:
- Claims if you purchase this policy or book a trip after you test positive for COVID-19 and this led to your illness / hospitalisation has been removed.
- Claims for additional costs incurred as a result of you having to self-isolate has been removed.
Under Personal Accident or Personal Liability, there have been changes made to the exclusions of sports or activities:
- Canoeing/Kayaking/Rafting/White Water Rafting grade 4
Covid-19 Extension
- Removed from sale
Cruise Extension
Under the claims evidence section a requirement for covid tests has been removed:
- Evidence that your lateral flow test is positive if claiming for Covid-19.
Large Scale Events Extension
Under the if you are unable to go on your trip section an exclusion has been removed:
- Due to a reason other than COVID-19, provided there are no other government travel restrictions in place.
Golf Extension
No further changes

IPID Changes
Under the are there any restrictions on cover section a change to pregnancy cover has been made:
- There is no cover for pregnancy or medical conditions arising from pregnancy if you will be more than 28 weeks pregnant on your return trip date (or 24 weeks for multiple births). You can make a claim under “Cancelling Your Trip” provided you purchased this policy/booked a trip before you were aware you would not be able to travel.
Policy Wording Changes
Under the medical screening health requirements section changes have been made:
- To determine if we can offer you cover, you will need to contact us and answer some additional health questions. If your conditions can be covered, you may need to pay an extra amount. If you choose not to pay this, we won’t be able to offer you a policy.
- Within the last five years, have you or anyone named on the policy been diagnosed with or treated for any of the following:
- Heart or circulatory conditions
- Strokes or high blood pressure
- Breathing/Respiratory conditions (including Asthma)
- Cancer (even if now in remission)
- Diabetes (including diet controlled)
- A bowel, gastric, or digestive condition
- Are you or anyone named on the policy currently taking any prescribed medication (this doesn’t include medication for common colds, flu, or contraception).
- Are you or anyone named on the policy waiting for any tests, treatment or a non-routine hospital appointment?
- Have you or anyone named on the policy seen a medical practitioner in the last 2 years? (including attending a hospital, a clinic, or a medical practitioners’ surgery as either an outpatient or in-patient.)
Have you or anyone named on the policy:
- Been currently put on a waiting list for treatment or investigation?
- Been given a terminal prognosis?
- Please make sure to answer all questions honestly and fully. Even if you consider a medical condition resolved, or may seem minor to you, you should still let us know.
- Pregnancy or medical conditions arising from pregnancy are covered provided you will not be more than 28 weeks pregnant on your return trip date (or 24 weeks for multiple births) and a medical practitioner or midwife confirms that you are fit to travel.
- If you are confirmed not fit to travel, or if you will be 28 weeks or more pregnant at the start of your trip or during your trip, (24 weeks for multiple births), you can make a claim under “Cancelling Your Trip” provided you purchased this policy/booked a trip before you were aware you would not be able to travel.
Holidaysafe, Insurancewith, and Alpha Policies from 1st December 2025

- Removal of exclusion of cover for natural damage (e.g. wear and tear)
- Addition of trips that do not start and end in the UK.
- Claims caused by an epidemic or pandemic.
Policy Wording Changes
Under the cancelling or amending your policy section an addition has been made:
- However, discretion may be exercised in exceptional circumstances to provide a refund for unused cover, those exceptional circumstances being bereavement or an unexpected change to your policy resulting in us being unable to continue covering you, providing you have not made a claim on the policy or are intending to make a claim, any refund is subject to an administration fee. We will calculate the unused part of your payment using the sliding scale below:
Under the fraud section an addition has been made:
- For any claim found to be fraudulent, we may seek to recover such external costs or expenses from you.
Under the purchasing after your trip has started section an addition has been made:
- If you are travelling outside the UK, then it is possible to purchase a policy up to the point you board your international transport departing the UK, once you have boarded your outbound international transport, you can no longer buy a policy.
Under the section sums insured and excesses the title has been changed to total amount covered and excesses and additions have been made:
- If you don’t want to pay the standard excess, you can choose to pay extra to remove it, this means that we will cover the full amount of your claim, up to the maximum limit. You must add the excess waiver when you purchase the policy. The excess waiver cannot be added after you have travelled/after the start date on your policy or if you have started or are awaiting to make a claim.
- If you have declared any medical conditon(s) and we have agreed to provide cover with an extra medical excess (as shown on your policy certificate), this excess will apply to all medical claims related to the declared condition(s), or where the declared condition(s) have led to another medical issue. This medical excess will be added to the standard excess, and the total amount combined will be deducted from any claim payment. If the total medical claim is less than £500, then only the standard excess will be deducted.
- Please note: – The excess waiver will only waive the standard excess on the policy and does not apply to any medical excess that has been added to your policy to cover medical condition(s).

- You must contact the medical emergency service once you know you will be in a medical facility overnight.
Under the missed departure section there has been an addition of important information text:
- Planning your travel. You must allow enough time to travel to your departure point and check in for your outward journey. This should be at least the minimum time recommended by your travel provider.
Under the cutting short your trip section there has been a change in cover:
- Cover has been added for if you, or your travel companion’s passport is lost or stolen during your trip and this prevents you from entering a country, resulting in missed pre-booked travel plans.
Under the medical sections of cover, there is new guidance on extra travel or accommodation costs:
- We will only cover extra travel or accommodation costs if you get our approval first. If you don’t get our authorisation, we will not pay for those expenses.
Under the medical exclusions section, there have been changes made:
- We don’t cover any extra losses, damage or expenses that happen as a result of the incident you are claiming for, unless they are specifically covered by this insurance. For example, a claim for loss of earnings after you have been injured on a trip is not covered.
- Medical claims arising from alcohol and/or drug abuse or alcohol and/or drug dependency which is evidenced by your medical records or the opinion of a medical practitioner.
Under the emergency medical expenses section there has been a change to medical repatriation cover:
- If there is a valid claim for emergency medical expenses, this section provides cover up to the maximum amount shown in the cover table when, in our doctor’s opinion you should return home or if necessary be moved to a medical facility elsewhere.
Under the personal belongings section there has been an addition to passports and driving licenses:
- Passports and Driving Licence: – deductions will be made for the used/expired portion of the document, not the full amount to replace the document.
Under the personal belongings definitions there has been a change made to medical fittings:
- Dentures, prosthesis, hearing aids, and personal use medical devices, such as CPAP machines or insulin pumps.
Under the personal baggage valuables section there has been an addition of cover and an exclusion:
- The cost of replacement essential prescription medication is covered
- The cost of prescription medication where you have not taken sufficient supplies with you is excluded
Under the legal advice section there has been a change to awarded damages:
- If you receive compensation (damages) from another party for the same incident, you must repay us for any money we advanced to you from that compensation, once you have received it.
Under Personal Accident or Personal Liability, there have been changes made to the exclusions of sports or activities:
- Cycling (non-competitive, casual/recreational cycling on paved roads/designated cycle paths) **
- Riding Motorcycles/mopeds – No PL cover at any time, (PA cover up to 125cc only)*
- ** The following activities are not considered casual cycling and are therefore not covered: Mountain biking, BMX riding, Cycle touring or E-bikes.
Under the Sports and Activities NOT covered section, there have been changes made to the exclusions of sports and activities:
- Riding motorcycles/mopeds with an engine capacity over 125cc

Failure of air traffic control not including system failure caused by cyber terrorism.
An event occurring at your departure or arrival point that causes its closure or evacuation.
